WHAT IS IT

Karmakol Festival: The Nile Edition brings together highlights from the Sudanese and International cultural scene to workshop, exchange and perform with the aim to CONNECT and CREATE.

WHY NOW?

More than three years later after the first edition of the Karmakol Festival, it is still leaving its mark on the Sudanese community. At the same time, a virus has taken a grip on the world and new challenges are coming into focus that humanity can only overcome together. Therefore, Karmakol Festival: The Nile Edition takes place at the right time to connect international and Sudanese visionaries, to exchange ideas and to identify new ways of collaboration.

THE NILE EDITION

This year’s edition of the festival will take place under the open skies and shining stars of Karmakol and the river Nile. The festival activities will focus on the Nile and the diverse cultures of the 11 Nile countries this great waterway flows through. The theme of this year’s festival is being developed and implemented with our organising partner, Nile Journeys.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We provide the space, you provide the content! Following the success of Karmakol 2017, we are taking the next step and laying the foundations for a festival owned by you, our partners, and co-creators. This will provide a vibrant, diverse, and open platform to ensure the Karmakol Festival’s ongoing sustainability for years to come.

2. We will review the proposals and curate the festival program with the selected content

3. The festival board will collaborate with and support the creators to implement their event
